Mary B. Shepard teaches at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith. She is a former President of the International Center of Medieval Art and head of Education at The Cloisters–the branch museum of The Metropolitan Museum of Art dedicated to the art and architecture of medieval Europe. Her research interests include French and English medieval stained glass as well as the reuse of medieval art in later contexts.Recent publications include co-editing an anthology of articles on new approaches to studying stained-glass windows with Elizabeth Pastan, published in the Journal of Glass Studies (2014) and co-editing, with Lisa Pilosi and Sebastian Strobl, a Corpus Vitrearum Occasional Papers volume on Stained-Glass Conservation in the Twenty-first Century (Turnhout, 2010).
Current projects include Alexandre Lenoir and medieval art, as well as a Corpus Vitrearum volume on the stained-glass windows of St. Michael-le-Belfrey in York.
