Devoted to scholarly analysis and investigation of Medieval and Renaissance stained glass

Fragments in The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Cloisters

Some important stained glass fragments were added to the museum’s study collection, a Gift of Mrs. Robert Branner.

Five of these pieces come from the palace of Qaar el-Heir at el-Gharbi in Syria where they were given to the late Jean Lafond by the excavation team. The palace was built in 727 and abandoned in 750, securely dating these fragments of crown-blown glass.
